Who is Emily in one sentence?

I’m an experience designer and founder of Dine Wilder - a tornado of energy, building rooms that change people, breaking the rules, living wildly, and raising two boys in the middle of it all.

Where are you from, and how long have you been in Vancouver?

I’m a Yorkshire-born storyteller from the rolling hills of northern England. I left the UK at 19 to see the world, and after three years of traveling, found my home in Vancouver in 2016. In 2019, I planted roots in Squamish to raise my babies, while still playing, exploring, and curating unforgettable experiences across Vancouver and the North Shore.

What are some of your go-to spots around the city?

Livia for the best cheese toastie of my life. Chambar for mussels. Homer Street Cafe for a long, lingering lunch. Thierry for a chocolate croissant - only matched when in Paris. Hy’s to splurge on a steak. Blue Water never misses. Honestly, Vancouver, we’re spoiled for choice!

What are three things we’d find you doing on a Saturday?

Saturdays start with burning off the wild boy energy my 3 and 5-year-old wake up full of. Thankfully we live by the river so we’ll walk there with a cup of English brekkie tea and likely go home to build a fort.

Midweek is full in the best possible way with an overflowing social calendar so we’ve been leaning into the simplest of weekends.

We’ll have friends over for dinner. Nothing fancy. Mismatched glassware, takeout dressed up on beautiful plates, the kids relighting half-burned candles from whatever events I’ve hosted earlier in the week.

Somewhere in the middle of it all, I’ll slip out for a run.

What’s something you’re focused on or excited about in your life right now?

FEAST! Dine Wilder’s whole-day immersive at The Chekamus Center in Squamish on October 25th - a day that dares women to live bolder, reminds them how capable they are, and restores confidence. Our KPI is goosebumps, and I already know there will be arms full of them. Tickets go live May 1!

I’m also launching my own brand - Emily Wilder - offering coaching, event consulting, in-person workshops, and a membership sharing the coolest events happening, because over the last year I’ve learned that you only know…if you know.

If you could share a message with everyone in Vancouver, what would you say?

There’s a narrative that Vancouver is impossible for making friends - but we have to be careful that doesn’t become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Speak to the stranger, strike up a conversation with the barista that goes deeper than “how’s your day?” Make eye contact. Everyone I’ve met in Vancouver is amazing and very community focused.

Community is a verb - take it into your own hands.
